Dom Dom Food Service, Inc., a Japanese fast food company, released original face coverings on May 16, 2020. The masks were sold out soon after they went on sale at Dom Dom Hamburger restaurants.
Although Dom Dom did not advertise the new merchandise, the adorable mask, accented with its mascot elephant “Domzo-kun,” the masks went viral on SNS. Ms. Fujisaki, the president of the hamburger chain with an apparel background, designed the mask herself. The company says the masks were originally developed for the employees to wear during the global health crisis, but also made available for the customers purchase. The washable face coverings, made of cotton and polyester, fit comfortably, not to mention the cute design. Responding to a popular demand, Dom Dom has just started to sell the masks online.
Dom Dom Hamburger opened its door in 1970 and is the very first hamburger restaurant in Japan. The company currently operates 29 restaurants throughout the nation. Dom Dom has posted videos on its official YouTube channel to share the recipe of their popular items for their patrons who are staying home.
