A Japanese food company, Ezaki Gliko Co. Ltd., is adding a brand new flavor to its longtime best selling ice creams, “Papico,” “Giant Cone,” and “Ice No Mi.” The new matcha flavor is available this summer for a limited time. Supervised by a renowned tea master, Mr. Masaru Kikuoka, these cold desserts were developed with 100% Uji matcha green tea from Morihan, a long established green tea brand with more than 180 years of history.

Here is the quick review of each product:

PAPICO: You can enjoy the rich matcha flavor and the smooth texture. No artificial coloring. No artificial fragrance. This gelato is for the grownups!

GIANT CONE: Matcha is used for chocolate crunch and toppings, ice cream and sauce. Its rich flavor is just like that of a matcha parfait.

Ice No Mi: Bite-size gelato. An elegant matcha flavor fills your mouth at the moment you pop it in.

Mr. Masaru Kikuoka from Morihan blended the matcha especially for Glico. He is a tea expert who was placed 1st at the Japan Tea Examining Technique Competition in 1998 and 2002.

Japanese flavors have been popular among consumers and matcha is definitely one of the most popular flavors. According to Ezaki Glico, they developed the new products for the current COVID-19 situation in mind, hoping refreshing green tea taste would bring a relaxing moment to people staying home during the hot summer in Japan.
